We’ve worked with this particular client since 2001. They are a very successful manufacturer of candy, cookies, trail mixes among other items. Over the years, we’ve helped them through auto, personal injury, and equipment breakdown claims.
In 2010, they experienced a fairly unusual claim that caused some difficulty with their insurance carrier. While this claim was no where near their largest or most complex, it did provide some challenges in having it properly adjusted. They had a large fluorescent light fall from the ceiling sending both smoke and little pieces of broken glass in all directions within their clean room where they had a large amount of stored finished product that had not yet been completely packaged.
The insured called us in a panic as they were faced with thousands of dollars in compromised finished product, but even more importantly, they were concerned about cleaning this up to the degree that the tiny broken glass would not be tracked throughout the rest of their facility.
We facilitated an emergency meeting with Belfor, a property restoration company that we have a strong relationship with, and together we developed a strategy to get their plant back up and running, salvage the lost property, and clean up the area.
In the end, the insured had very limited down time, piece of mind that their facility and remaining product was free of debris and a nice settlement check from the carrier for their lost inventory. This is just another example of the pro-active service that PLC provides its clients, and it’s what sets us apart from our competition.
